The project STORE&GO

The project STORE&GO lasts from 2016 to 2020 and is integrated into the framework programme "Horizon 2020" of the European Union. The project involves 27 research and industry institutions from six European countries. The research questions in STORE&GO focus on technical, economic and legal aspects of power-to-methane technology.

Focus on System Integration

Power-to-methane is a key technology for the future energy supply of Europe, the convergence of grids (electricity, gas and heating), the storage of electricity and the use in mobility. Within the project STORE&GO, three power-to-methane plants are being built. Two plants feed the produced gas into the existing gas networks and the third plant liquefies the gas and stores it in a tank.
In the project, the integration of power-to-methane technologies into a future European energy supply is examined, and thus different scenarios are designed and evaluated. Within the project business cases for applications of these technologies will be developed. In addition, the legal and regulatory framework for the dissemination of the technology is examined. Another research unit addresses the question of the social acceptance of these technologies in the population.
