The First International Workshop on Lattice Boltzmann for Wind Energy

The Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) has shown to be a promising candidate for faster high-fidelity simulations. This workshop welcomes researchers from both industry and academia, interested or active in the application of the LBM in wind energy.

A selection of keynote lectures will provide a comprehensive overview of the method, ranging from a fundamental introduction to state-of-the-art applications in wind energy and atmospheric sciences.

Furthermore, participants are invited to present current research in oral presentations comprising all wind energy related applications of the LBM such as wind turbine aerodynamics, wind farm simulations, aero-acoustics, atmospheric boundary layer flows, etc.

Plenary discussions on future opportunities and challenges will round-off the event.

The workshop will take place at the University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (Switzerland) but will include a live streaming and online platform to enable online attendance. Depending on the overall situation, the event might be changed to a full online workshop. This decision will be made until the end of December.

Participants are invited to present current research in 15 min presentations followed by 5 min discussions. Speakers are asked to submit a one page abstract including figures. Submission deadline is the 20th December. A notification of acceptance and the detailed program will be announced by the 15th of January.

The workshop fee is

  • 250 CHF / 150 CHF (Regular/Student, PhD) for on-site participation

  • 100 CHF / 50 CHF (Regular/Student, PhD) for online participation

If you sign up for the on-site event now and cannot attend due to Corona restrictions, you will only be billed for the online price. Similarly will all on-site registrations be automatically changed to online registrations if the situation requires so.
