The change in the energy system calls for innovative solutions for newly developed components of electrical energy technology. With its new and modern high-voltage laboratory, the IET offers the possibility to test and measure direct and alternating current, lightning impulse and high current.. »

"Power-to-gas" is a new technology that converts renewable electrical energy into chemical energy in the form of hydrogen and methane. The IET Institute for Energy Technology is engaged in applied research in the field of implementation of power-to-gas in practice. »


Wind energy is the world's fastest growing renewable energy source and is thus gaining an ever-increasing importance in the energy sector. The IET is engaged with test systems for prototypes, as well as the optimization and site evaluation of wind turbines. »

Building system technology

Buildings in Switzerland are responsible for more than 40% of the primary energy consumption and the CO2-emissions. Therefore, buildings offer large potentials for primary energy savings and CO2 emission reduction.
